Western Front Virtual Tour — Stop 38: Musée de la Grande Guerre du Pays de Meaux

The new World War I museum at Meaux is superb. I would rate it ahead of the Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres and the Historial de la Grande Guerre à Péronne. Here are some images from recent visits I have made with my group tours.

  1. I just returned from Europe, and a visit to the museum in Meaux. I admit that it is a wonderful museum and has a great variety of displays not seen anywhere else. I visited the Flanders museum a few years ago and was greatly impressed with it, too. I'm working from memory here, but I remember the Flanders museum to be a little more Ypers-centric. At the time of my visit I was given an "identity" of a person living during that time and experiencing the war. I think that comparing the two museums may be a case of "apples and oranges". Just my humble opinion.
